Did you know that you are the second largest group of voters in NJ — more than registered Republicans? With June primaries coming up, you can save yourself the hassle of paper forms or driving to your polling place to vote* by going online and 1) affiliating with either the Democratic or Republican political party AND 2) requesting a Vote By Mail and have the correct primary ballot mailed to you.

Step 1: Go to the online portal: https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/register

Step 2: As shown on this screenshot, click on the two items “Political Party Affiliation” and “Vote By Mail.”

No paper form. No stamps. No fuss.

There are over 2.37 million Unaffiliated voters in New Jersey as of this month. You can decide who wins in either the Democratic or Republican primary elections.

You can unaffiliate after you vote in the primary election and go back to Unaffiliated using the same Online Voter Registration portal. In the general election in November, you need not affiliate with any party and can vote for any candidate running.

*If you want to vote in person, all Unaffiliated voters can show up in person during In-Person Early Voting or Election Day and affiliate with either party and vote in either party’s primary election.

*If you are currently affiliated with a political party but want to vote in another primary (either Democratic or Republican), you must affiliate yourself with either party 55 days prior to Election Day in order to vote in that party’s primary. This year, the deadline to switch political affiliation is April 8, 2026.
